Inventory
Transferring Stock
When you move goods from one store to another — say from your main store to the office/showroom because it's running low — record it as a stock transfer so both stores' counts stay correct.
Find it under Inventory → Stock levels → ⇄ Transfer Stock.
Why use a transfer
A transfer simply changes where stock sits. It does not touch your accounts — nothing is sold or bought, so your profit and inventory value are unchanged. It just decreases the count at the store the goods leave and increases it at the store they arrive in.
Making a transfer
- From store — choose the store the goods are leaving.
- To store — choose the store the goods are going to. (It must be a different store.)
- Transfer date — defaults to today; set an earlier date if the move already happened.
- Note (optional) — a short reason, e.g. "Restocking the showroom".
- Add items. For each product, pick it from the list and enter the quantity to move. The Available column shows how much of that product is on hand at the source store, so you can't move more than you have.
- Press Transfer stock.
Both stores' balances update immediately — check them on the By product tab of Stock Levels, where each store has its own column.
Good to know
- Cost is preserved. Each unit keeps the cost it was received at, so valuation stays accurate. Its original received date travels with it too, so stock aging keeps counting from when the goods first arrived — a transfer doesn't reset the clock.
- Oldest stock moves first. Transfers follow FIFO (first-in, first-out), the same as sales.
- Services can't be transferred. Only stocked goods have stock to move.
- Recent transfers are listed at the bottom of the transfer page for reference.
